Non-Sterile Surgical Blades No.12 The No.12 is a small, pointed, crescent shaped blade sharpened along The inside edge of The curve. It is sometimes utilised as a suture cutter but also for arteriotomies (surgical incision of an artery), parotid surgeries (facial salivary glands), mucosal cuts on a septoplasty (repair of nasal septum) and during cleft palate procedures, ureterolithotomies (calculus removal by incision of The ureter) and pyelolithotomies (surgical incision of The renal pelvis of a kidney for The removal of a kidney stone - also known as a pelviolithotomy ).

NOTE: Swann Morton have discontinued the non-sterile, (blue box) range with product codes beginning 01__ that were designated as CE marked class IIA medical devices. They have now introduced a replacement range of non-sterile surgical quality blades with product codes beginning 11__. This range will be in the same packaging configuration (boxes of 100 containing 20 foil packets of 5 blades). The blades will be exactly the same as the previous 01__ family, using the same materials and being produced on the same machinery in their manufacturing facility in Sheffield, UK. The key difference is that product codes in this family will not be classified as medical devices and will not carry our CE mark. They should be considered for use in non-medical applications only.

We will therefor be sending the new 11__ range once our stock of the old 01__ range runs out.
